Privacy, cookies and contact
What this site does with the little data it can see, written against the pages as they are actually served rather than against a template.
Ludicrous is a static archive. Pages are files: there is no login, no shopping basket, no comment box and no personalisation, so on almost every address there is nothing about you for this site to keep.
The contact form
One page carries a form: /about/. It asks for a name, an email address and a message, and it is the only place on this domain where you can type anything that reaches the desk.
- What is collected — the name, email address and message you type, and nothing that is not in the fields you can see.
- Why — to read your message and answer it. It is not used for a mailing list, and there is no mailing list to be added to.
- On what basis — you send it on your own initiative; the desk has a legitimate interest in reading and replying to correspondence addressed to it.
- Who processes it — the form is served and handled by fortunida.com, which passes the message on to the desk. The script for it is loaded from that domain, which means your browser contacts fortunida.com when that one page opens.
- How long — a message is kept for as long as the exchange it belongs to is open, and is deleted once the matter is closed.
- Withdrawing — reply to the same thread and ask for the message to be deleted, and it is deleted. There is nothing to unsubscribe from.
Cookies and measurement
This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, no advertising tags and no consent banner — a static file has nothing to set them with. That is a statement about this domain and it is checked on every build: across every page served here the only third-party script is the form script named above.
Requests that leave this domain
A few things on this site are fetched from somewhere else, and they are listed rather than summarised:
- the contact form script on /about/, from fortunida.com;
- partner logos on 4 pages marked Partner content, served from canadiancasinos-online.com, odds.ph, onlineplaytechcasinos.com, top-casinos.co.nz;
- 1 old page where a picture posted in 2005–2010 still points at the image host it was uploaded to at the time.
None of them is a tracker as far as the desk can tell, but each is a request your browser makes to a company that is not this one, and whoever receives it sees your address and the page you were on.
The old reader comments
Pages under Archive 2005 and the plugin pages carry replies that readers left between 2005 and 2010, under the names they chose at the time. They are reproduced as text, without avatars, profile links or email addresses, and the reply form that collected them is long gone. If one of them is yours and you would rather it were not here, use the contact form and it will be removed.
Server logs
The web server that hands out these files keeps the usual access log: IP address, time, the address requested, and what your browser called itself. It is the record every web server keeps in order to be operable at all, it is not joined to anything else, and it is not used to build a profile.
Reaching the desk
Use the form on the about page. Corrections to a specific page are the most useful thing you can send: say which address and which line, and the page is either fixed or the claim is removed.
